Photofacial Skin Treatment

RF5468159 - Pretty

The laser solution for skin damage  - if your skin shows evidence of chronic exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet light, you are a candidate for facial skin treatment!  Physicians call the condition “photodamage” and the most obvious signs are coarsening of skin texture, wrinkling, irregular pigmentation, and enlarged blood vessels and pores.

Facial skin treatment is the visible improvement of sun damaged skin through the use of laser technology to remove enlarged blood vessels and irregular pigmentation, and stimulate the underlying collagen.

How do I know if I have photodamaged skin?  If you are over 30 years old and enjoy an active lifestyle, your skin is probably showing signs of damage.

How does laser treatment reduce the signs of photodamage?  Lasers work by focusing a beam of light to a target in the skin such as enlarged blood vessels and irregular pigmentation.  The enlarged vessels and irregularities are removed without scarring or damage to the treated or surrounding area and the underlying collagen is stimulated.

Do lasers work on all skin types?  Today’s advanced lasers are capable of treating a wide variety of skin types.

What other conditions are treatable by lasers?  Elimination of red and brown blemishes, reduction of minor wrinkles, and a general tightening of your skin’s collagen.

How many treatments are required?  Typically several treatments are required for full face treatment.  The average treatment takes about 20 minutes.  Results may become apparent after the first few treatments.

Is the treatment painful and what will I look like after the laser facial skin treatment?  There may be minor discomfort associated with the treatment.  In most cases no anesthesia is necessary.  Results will vary, your skin may appear reddened.  You can resume normal activities immediately with minimal precautions such as sunscreen.

How does laser facial treatments differ from  chemical peels and dermabrasion?          Dermabrasion and chemical peels remove the outer skin, the laser gently penetrates the skin without damaging it and destroys blood vessels and brown pigment that the cause of the problem.  It also tightens the collagen and minimizes large pores.

Acne Laser Treatment

Acne Vulgaris pimples and zits – appear in about 85% of the 12-25 year old population. A percentage of older individuals also suffer from “adult acne”.  Most individuals suffer from the milder form of acne called “non-inflammatory” and experience occasional blemishes. Others suffer

from inflammatory acne with its lesions consisting of blood vessels, white blood cells and other materials.  If you suffer from inflammatory acne, there are a number of treatment options available to you ranging from diet and regular washing of the affected areas to “peeling agents,” and topical and oral medications.

Laser technology has successfully been used to treat a wide variety of skin lesions in adults and children.  It is proving to be a remarkable weapon in the battle against acne.

How does the laser work?  The pulse wavelength causes a photochemical reaction, killing acne bacteria while reducing erythema and also stimulating collagen to improve acne scarring.

Does it work on all type of acne?  The Epilite pulse dye laser is ideal for treating the redness associated with mild to moderate acne by killing the bacteria in the pores.

Is the treatment difficult?  Not at all.  On your first visit your condition will be assessed - then you will have your first treatment with re-treatments scheduled three weeks apart for the next three to four months.  Each treatment will typically last 15 to 20 minutes. Results can usually be seen almost immediately.

Is the treatment painful?  There may be some minor discomfort, similar to a slight sting or pinch – much like the snap of a rubber band.
